Forest Preserve Workday Projects

Help protect our environment in monthly workday projects in cooperation with the Will Count Forest

Preserve District. This requires very physical labor. A liability waiver must be signed (on the site) and proper clothing should be worn. Schedule 8:00 am-Noon

Monthly Latex Paint Collection

Held the 1st Saturday in May and every 4th Saturday of every month may-September from 9am-Noon at the New Lenox Township Recycling Yard 1100 S. Cedar Rd. New Lenox. Donated paint is sorted, mixed and reused in ShareFest service projects.

*Donate – books, clothes, toys, food, pet supplies, items for troops. We will accept home goods at this event only. 8am-3pm
*Household Hazardous Waste Collection,
*Paper Shredding Event,
*Reuse/Recycle Collection Event- electronics, carpet/ padding (in 4’ lengths), wood, scrap metal, Styrofoam, flags, usable latex paint. See for list of items.

9/11 Patriot Day Ceremony

This event is held at the Village Commons Fireman’s Memorial at 9/11am.

Please bring items to be donated to our Troops to the Ceremony (see website for list of items)

Job & Resource Fair
Get connected to over 50 local employers looking to hire! 1:00pm-4:00pm at New Life Church 500
S. Gougar Rd New Lenox. Bring lots of resumes and dress for success!

ShareFest Saturday Spencer School Campus 1711 S. Spencer Rd.
Set Up for the “Main Event” – will be Friday night 9/16. Help transport goods from ShareFest collection trucks and set up and display at Spencer School Campus.

Book Drive/Exchange- this reuse & recycling event is sponsored by the Girl Scout Troop 273 to promote literacy and recycling books. Ted thousand free books exchanged and donated last year.
Everyone is invited to drop off and/or exchange new and gently used books. 9:00 am -3pm

Collections For Our Troops- donate items at “Main Event” to support Soldiers, Marines, Sailors,
& Airmen through care packages and letters of encouragement. See website for item list. 9-3pm

Raffle Table- we have monthly raffles and tables full of raffle items available at “Main Event”.
Funds raised for service projects and the freezer/cooler for the NL Township Pantry.

Service Projects- These clean up / fix-up projects are for those who need a helping hand. We have completed over 220 services projects the last 8 years. If you know someone who could use a helping hand or if you would like to volunteer call or visit the website, Service projects are scheduled 9am-12pm.

Various dates and locations to help with the ‘Solution To Pollution” events coordinated by Virgil
Kemp from Helpers Of Mother Earth ( H.O.M.E.) Bags are provided for these clean-up projects which last begin at 10:00am and go until Noon. A one-half hour photo session will follow including a “Find of The Day” Award. Please wear proper clothing. Bring your own snacks, water, and gloves.
