March-May

Fairmont Community Empowerment Project - Volunteer for seven “Pollution Solution Outings”

beginning Saturday March 12th and continuing to Saturday May 7th . Volunteers will meet at a site to be determined in Fairmont. at 10:00am. Bags are provided for this clean-up project which lasts until Noon. A one-half hour photo session will follow including a “Find of The Day” Award. Please wear proper clothing. Forest Preserve Workday Projects- help protect our environment in monthly workday projects in cooperation with the Will Count Forest Preserve District. This requires very physical labor. May-September

Monthly Latex Paint Collection held the 1st Saturday in May and every 4th Saturday of every month may-September from 9am-Noon at the New Lenox Township Recycling Yard 1100 S. Cedar Rd. New Lenox. June 11th

On Saturday June 11th we are encouraging everyone to participate in the Northern Illinois Food Bank Foodie 5k at the Chicagoland Speedway. Every $1 raised will provide $8 worth of food for our local participating pantries. Our “Lincolnway Area Team” goal is to raise $10,000 by the event date. Contact: gary@sharefestnewlenox.com

June 26th

Our hope is to unite all the churches / organizations in Will County to help us fill local food pantries during the month of June. We encourage you to join forces to combat hunger in Will County by equipping our pantries to feed the hungry. The drive is named “For I was hungry you feed me” and will take place Sunday June 26. If you, your church, or organization would like to participate, please contact Mike michaelhilton@727@gmail.com

Steps to take:

1) Hand out a food item slips (provided upon request to each member or people you know on

Sunday, June 19, and encourage all to bring food the following Sunday.

2) On Sunday June 26nd between 12:00-1:00pm, you can bring items to one of our three collection/distribution center (listed below), or place the items in a designated area of your choice at your church /organization and contact ShareFest to send volunteers to pick items up.

Set Up for the “Main Event” – will be Friday night 9/16. Help transport goods from ShareFest collection trucks and set up and display at Spencer School Campus.

Book Drive/Exchange- this reuse & recycling event is sponsored by the Girl Scout Troop 273 to promote literacy and recycling books. Ted thousand free books exchanged and donated last year.
